In June 2017, Ayana inspired Lawrence Brothers Promotions to invest $1,000.00 into a certification program offered by Sentara College of Health Sciences. The program was for 9 weeks and would lead to direct entry-level patient care opportunities in the hospitals. “I knew the program worked for others so we invested in Ayana and her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse”. Long story short, Ayana completed that program, she worked as a NCP while attending college majoring in nursing. In 2019, she graduated BRCC (Blue Ridge Community College) with honors and enrolled into James Madison University (RN/BSN) program and in May 2022 she earned her BSN.

We formed the “Ayana Alston Healthcare Scholarship Award” given to a Bethel High School Health Academy Student to honor Ayana and her passion for healthcare and our organization. Since 2017 our foundation has given over $20,000 to young adults pursuing post-secondary educational opportunities. We’ve had amazing success with helping individuals pursue their goals and Ayana’s story is a HUGE part of our success.

The recipient of the Ayana Alston Healthcare Scholarship Award is Hafsa Nakach. Hafsa will graduate from Bethel HighSchool with a 4.8 GPA and will be attending Christopher Newport University in the fall majoring in Microbiology.
